Doll Clothes Short Cuts - tights from Dollar Store Knee Highs...


Here's an easy way to make doll tights out of a pair of adult size knee highs...I got these at the dollar store for $1...I found these instructions here...


 Turn the socks inside out, measure the distance on the doll from waist to crotch and crotch to toes.
Mark and sew with a zigzag or serging stitch.

 Cut away and slit sock on inside fold line from waist to crotch.

Pin this center seam and sew from front to back..
 Turn right side out and you're done!...

Here is  our dolly in her new tights... 
  
 They look really cute with her jeans skirt.

    Thanks so much! I would have never thought to do this! Now my girls have three pairs of tights for their American girl dolls! I used socks from the dollar spot at Target and they worked perfectly!

    Just found this and used the idea to make a pair of slacks for grand-daughter's new flea market baby doll. Then I used the toe area to make a stocking cap to match :)

      The instructions above say the two places you measure on your doll. That's why there are no measurements given. This was it doesn't matter what size doll or (within reason) what size socks you use. Start with old and inexpensive socks and adjust as needed before you splash out for a whole dollar.

    Jacque could you please help me. My granddaughter has gone on vacation and took her American Girl doll with her and I really could use the measurements for this doll if you have them. Then I could make a few pair of leggings and surprise her when she gets home. Thank you very much and hope

    Look up on line 'Measurements for 18 inch dolls. There are charts there for waist, inseam, etc. for various size dolls. There are apparently different size 18 inch dolls, some are plumper with filling, thinner legs etc., but it still gives you an idea of what size is needed to cut the socks into tights. I will attempt a pair tomorrow,
